Paying for college can be a challenge, but scholarships are one of the best ways to reduce the financial burden. Students who receive scholarships are more likely to graduate, report greater satisfaction, and enter the workforce with less debt. At CSU, we want to make sure every student has access to education.
Colorado State University offers scholarships for students across the state, some tied to your personal experience, others based on your hometown or region, and others based on your education and career goals. Below you will find general scholarship categories followed by region-specific scholarships.
General scholarships open to eligible CSU students
Complete the CSU Scholarship Application (CSUSA) between October 1 – March 1 to be considered for most of the following scholarships. The selection process is very competitive, so a complete and high-quality application is important.
Rural Colorado scholarships
- Average award: $2,000
- For students from rural communities across the state
- Complete the application between October 1 – March 1
4-H and FFA scholarships
- Average award: $1,800
- Recognizes leadership and experience in 4-H and FFA
- Complete the application between October 1 – March 1
- Additional 4-H scholarships available through Colorado 4-H, apply between December 1 – March 1
First-generation and limited income student scholarships
- Average award: $3,000
- Supports students who are the first in their family to attend college and/or from limited income backgrounds
- Complete the application between October 1 – March 1
Region-specific scholarships at CSU
The following are examples of scholarships that are available to students from specific counties, towns, or high schools across Colorado. Most are awarded through the CSU Scholarship Application process. Once you are admitted, you will have the opportunity to apply for some of these awards. Eastern Colorado
Scholarships range from $750 to $12,000.
- Henry and Florence McCluskey Scholarship – Bennett, Byers, Strasburg, Agate, Deertrail, Limon
- Dr. Jerome and Ellen Keefe Memorial Scholarship – Cheyenne Wells, Kit Carson, Plainview, Weskan, Wallace County
- Flack Family Scholarship – Elbert County
- Ron Hunter Memorial Scholarship – Simla
- Robert, Margaret and Garry Saylor Scholarship – Holyoke
- Morgan County Alumni Scholarship – Morgan County
- Jack and Tonia Queen Business Scholarship – Morgan, Washington, Logan, Yuma, Sedgwick, Phillips
- The Elephant Scholarship – Rural northeast Colorado
- Orville and Catherine Johnson Memorial Scholarship – Washington or Logan County
- Charles O. Tustin Mechanical Engineering Scholarship – Yuma County
- Blackwelder Legacy Scholarship – Logan, Sedgwick, Phillips, Morgan, Washington, Yuma, Elbert, Lincoln, Kit Carson, Cheyenne, Crowley, Kiowa, Otero, Bent, Prowers, Las Animas, and Baca
- El Centro Scholarship – Northern Colorado
- Eastern Colorado Scholarship – available to students living in Logan County, Morgan County, Phillips County, Washington County, Sedgwick County, and Yuma County
- Ellis Capra Northeastern Colorado Scholarship – Akron, Arickaree, Buffalo School District, Fleming, Haxtun, Holyoke, Julesburg, Otis, Plateau/Peetz, Prairie School District, RE-1 Valley, Revere/Ovid, Weldon Valley, and Wiggins
